Yay! Am in the dodgy internet place near my house and the man speaks english, and you can order food! (If you fancy eating surrounded but an omipresent cloud of smoke, although welcome to Berlin really). Had minor confusion this morning re: daylight savings time. Last night got a text from my sister rejoicing about her additional hour of sleep, so I asked my friend if we changed over here also, and she said it was in the last weekend of March so I was all like, oh yeah - next weekend.
Now it appears that this weekend is actually the last weekend in March, but then I was confused as to if I should put the clock forward or back but finally it has been cleared up, forward one hour. See it's the little things.

Man I hate this Media Point place, it always seems to be filled with hordes of men all using the online dating sites, at least I can't understand what they're saying. Only a couple of days 'til my housemate comes back and then Yay! internet for me at home.
Went to Ikea today, going anywhere here for me is still an adventure. I have to get out the map and work out which line to take, and then because I am slightly obsessive compulsive I have to check every station to see that we haven't jumped tracks mysteriously or something. Then when I get to the right U/S Bahn stop I have to get my map out again with much turning of both body and map to orient myself before I can finally set off.
Anyway, Ikea. As you would suspect v.similar to Ikea in Melbourne, but more German spoken. So now I have both a pillow and and lamp.

My new Wohnung!

I haven't worked out how to get my camera and computer and blogger all coordinated yet so no photos but you can look at the street map! It is in the north and right on the east side of the former wall. I takes me about ten minutes to walk to the main areas in Prenzlauer Berg which is kind of like Fitzroy.

Hmmm...so post number one.

Ok, not sure what this is going to look like because all the blogger instructions (well most of them) are in German.
I am still reduced to sitting in internet points at the moment because I need someone to help me configure(?) my computer at my new place and my housemate is away for the weekend. Actually today I am at the scene of a near breakdown a few days ago. My parents had scanned my centrelink forms which I need to prove I have money so I can get a student residence visa, and so I thought Bob's your uncle, I'll just pop down to the internet centre and print them out, hahaha!
There were some issues with the printing which I didn't understand, them being in German and all, so I asked the unfriendliest, unEnglishspeakingest, woman in Berlin. Well, when I say asked I mean more sort of gestured and mimed. Anyway she didn't know, so I thought I would go to the print centre near the university, but no you can't open yahoo attachments there. So then I go into the actual uni computing room but because I haven't enrolled properly there yet, I can't use the computers that print. So I ask the man for help and apparently in the whole computing room only a couple are hooked up to the internet, and only one of those prints! So he makes a big deal about me only using it really quickly blah, blah, but even now you can't open the yahoo attachment, and then he starts abusing me because I don't have a print card anyway (which it turns out I did in the end) so instead of assaulting him with mouse I decided that the visa was not getting organised that day.
